After four years of trying, the Boxall & Edmiston team have won a Shropshire Chamber of Commerce business award in the Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics category.

The judges deemed the Boxall & Edmiston team winners for our pioneering use of modern manufacturing methods in gunmaking and our efforts in starting a place of learning for the shooting industry.

The other finalists for the category were:

Cooper Sausage roles - producers of Gourmet Sausage roles,

Grainger and Worrall - engineers specialising in the casting of components, and

Salop Designs - engineers specialising in pressing and powder coating.

Winner_logoThe night was made extra special as the Boxall & Edmiston engineers were once again challenged to make the trophies for the evening, with our colleagues at Salop designs (a local manufacturing company). The design focussed on the idea of the Chamber of Commerce being at the centre of the business community.

The Chamber's logo was overlayed onto the CAD system and drawn at the centre of a 70mm diameter billet. Images of the four highest hills in Shropshire were then drawn on to the North, South, East and West of the round, with the Chamber's logo inlet into the top of the award. Images of the hills were used to create the contours, with the names of the hills being engraved beneath them.

The trophies were made from 70mm solid aluminium and then powder coated by our colleagues at Salop powder coating to give a solid black colour.

Additional bases were machined to raise the award to a plinth and these were also powder coated.

The trophies are the latest in a string of unusual commissions taken on by the Boxall & Edmiston team. Other works include, what was at the time, the world's largest coin, followed by a wave power generator and a garden spade - all commissioned by other engineering companies or individuals.

description_of_trophiesThank you to everyone at the Shropshire chamber of Commerce for the award and your ongoing business support - it's lovely that you continue to demonstrate how central you are to the business community.
