Step one - placing the order and shotgun features

There are several ways to order a shotgun from Boxall and Edmiston. A client may visit the factory in Shropshire or one of the many game fairs the team attend, other clients have ordered by phone or email.

All orders set the same wheels in motion. After the initial deposit (one third the total sale price) the client will have the opportunity to discuss the shotgun features across the range. Depending on the choice of gun there are a variety of options, the following must be decided before production can begin:

  • Barrel length - usually 28 or 30″ but others are available
  • Choke size - interchangeable available
  • Round or square action
  • Push button or Deeley Catch on the forend
  • Single or double trigger

Once the above has been selected a kit of parts is prepared for actioning. After years of production the Boxall and Edmiston store room is home to a multitude of parts. By having the parts ready the Boxall and Edmiston lead time is significantly shorter than other gun manufacturers, usually taking 6-10 months depending on the features selected.

Once all the components have been prepared they are sent to one of Britain’s finest actioners to assemble the gun.

Once complete the gun is returned to the Boxall and Edmiston factory. After chambering the gun to the clients specifications the gun is sent for proofing at the London proof house although the Birmingham proof house can be used if the client so wishes. The gun is returned a few days later ready for stocking.
