Step four - Presentation Choices and Delivery

By this stage the gun is almost complete and will be with T. R. White and Co for finishing. The finishing process takes four to eight weeks and involves oiling the stock and forend, blacking the barrels, checking the components and many more final tweaks that give a bespoke British shotgun its look and feel.

During this time a client is asked to decide on a delivery method and presentation choice. Currently there are three presentation choices:

  • A standard slip;
  • A British made gun slip with optional engraved initials;
  • A bespoke British made leather gun case;
  • A British made wooden gun box.
Please note, a slip is included in the price of each gun whereas a cost may be incurred for either of the boxes, depending on the model chosen.

Once selected the British craftsman can begin work on either the slip or gun case ready for gun delivery.

Boxall and Edmiston want every aspect of the production process to be enjoyable and nothing pleases the team more than handing over a finished product that has taken thousands of man hours to produce. Clients have several options for receiving their weapon including the team posting it out or delivering in person.

One viable option (and an enjoyable one for the team) is to visit the factory and collect the weapon in person. A member of the team will then take the client to test the weapon at a local shooting school to ensure everything is to the clients specification.

The production of a bespoke shotgun can be a lengthy process but thanks to modern manufacturing methods and a skilled logistics team Boxall and Edmiston have reduced the lead time considerably. From the moment the deposit is paid a gun can be produced in as little as six months, depending on the chosen specifications and features.
